Youth charity benefits as Pearson Jones plc complete grueling endurance challenge

Almost £10,000 has been raised for a youth development charity in a grueling event completed by a 10-strong team from Yorkshire wealth managers Pearson Jones plc at the weekend (Sept 18-19).
A total of £9,500 – £4,500  more than initially promised – has been raised for the Mitchemp Trust, by the team from Leeds-based wealth management business, Pearson Jones plc, which completed the 24 hour, 100 km Invesco Perpetual Highland Adventure Race.

The ten, who included Managing Director, Tim Johnson; Wealth Management Director, John Metcalf; and one woman, Senior Consultant, Shelley Hemsworth, started out from Inverness on the east coast and traveled by bicycle, foot and kayak for 100 km across the Great Glen. The final challenge involved crossing Ben Nevis at 5,000 ft, the highest point in the UK, before finishing at Fort William on the west coast.

Managing Director, Tim Johnson, says: “It was very tough – far more so than we expected – and the weather was not too kind. However if was gratifying to raise so much for such a worthwhile cause.”

The Mitchemp Trust, based in Swindon, is a youth development charity working with vulnerable children to help them learn the importance of team work, communication, social skills and learning about taking responsibility.

Pearson Jones plc, which also has offices in York, Sheffield and Bishop Auckland, offers wealth management, pensions and employee benefits, tax and trust planning, and mortgages. The company advises more than 2,000 private clients and 500 businesses with total funds under management of more than £1bn. The firm is one of only 285 IFA businesses – about one per cent – in the UK to be accredited Chartered Financial Planners by the Chartered Insurance Institute.
